Biography
Marcus Gad is a reggae artist from New Caledonia, known for his distinctive voice, spiritual message, and deep-rooted approach to Reggae Roots. Growing up in the multicultural lands of the Pacific, Marcus was surrounded by reggae music from an early age. His sound blends meditative roots, soul, and powerful musical trance, creating an immersive experience that invites listeners to reflect and reconnect with their inner selves.
Marcus began singing and playing guitar at the age of 15. During his adolescence, he was deeply influenced by Jamaican roots legends and the spiritual music of Midnite, led by the late Vaughn Benjamin. This influence shaped his vision of music as a tool for awakening, consciousness, and connection rather than simply entertainment. After moving to France for his studies, he began performing with musicians and embarked on his first tours in 2012.
In 2016, Marcus returned to New Caledonia to record his first EPs, Soul Talk and Purify, followed by his debut album Chanting in 2017. Strongly inspired by Kanak history and culture, his music carries a powerful message of identity, spirituality, and respect for indigenous traditions. His later releases include Rhythm of Serenity in 2020, created in collaboration with Zion I Kings, and Brave New World in 2021 with Paris-based beatmaker Tamal.
Since 2017, Marcus Gad has been accompanied by his band Tribe, delivering powerful and meditative live performances across Europe and beyond. With his unique voice, organic reggae sound, and conscious lyrics, Marcus Gad & Tribe continue to build a bridge between Pacific Island culture and the global reggae community, inviting audiences on a journey of inner reflection, spiritual connection, and musical discovery.
