Vybz Kartel
Adidja Azim Palmer, born January 7, 1976, is Vybz Kartel, a Jamaican dancehall deejay known for his provocative lyrics and impactful persona. He rose to fame with hits like “Romping Shop” and “Clarks” and influenced Western artists like Drake. In 2014, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, but his conviction was overturned in March 2024 due to juror misconduct. Kartel was released on July 31, 2024, after the Jamaican Court of Appeal declined a retrial.
