We’re proud to present the second Delroy Wilson’s album to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his passing. We’ve been working on this project for 2 years with Rodguel Sinclair aka Blackbeard. He has produced 3 Delroy Wilson’s album and a dozen of 7″ / 12″ between 1975 and 1985.
This second volume is a collection of 11 tunes featuring the mighty Sly & Robbie and the Taxi Gang. These tracks were produced between 1981 and 1985 in a Rub-A-Dub, Early-Dancehall and Lovers style. Most of these recordings were originally released on Blackbeard imprint Mr Tipsy and have never been reissued since.

Blackbeard started this new label in the early 80’s and worked mostly with the same crew aka the Ring Craft Posse aka Sly & Robbie and the Taxi Gang. First tune is Changing For You, a perfect exemple of this new Sly & Robbie sound, with the soulful Delroy Wilson vocals on top. A brilliant mix of heavy Reggae rhythm, using Rub-A-Dub and Lovers elements with modern production, including the use of the electronic drums. The dub version, Change, showcases the work of Sly & Robbie on drum and bass. Blackbeard released this tunes both on 7 inch and 12 inch format. It was also included on the 1985 album, The Dean of Reggae. Next is Please Don’t Leave Me plus an unreleased Dub version, Don’t Leave Me This Way. Silky production, with a full horn section, and a deep reggae groove. Another scorcher !

Next are 3 vocals tunes, including 2 covers, Soul Sister, originally written and recorded by BB Seaton with the Gaylads, and Freddie McKay classic, Picture on the Wall. Two great updated versions. Then Delroy Wilson covers one of his own composition, originally recorded for Coxsone in the 60’s, Troubled Man. Sly & Robbie give this old Ska riddim a modern twist in an early Dancehall style. Last but not least, Wedding Day and the version Wedding Ring. Another fine exemple of this successful collaboration. Delroy Wilson with Sly & Robbie !

Cherry on the cake, we used artwork elements from original Limonious drawing for the Dean of Reggae album (1985), plus the cover photo from the Prophesy album (1980).
