A two tracker release on the Equiknoxx Label which features two artists turned friends, Gavsborg and Tóke. The two met in Berlin in 2021 via Exile Di Brave and have had many lunches, hangouts and collabs for different projects across the Equiknoxx ‘iniverse’ (KAT7’s ‘Motherboard’ & unkle G’s ‘an honest meal’). However, this is the first release that is exclusive to the two.
Gav says his Mom heard him playing the EP and said “yes Son this is lovely and it should be released now”
A short Q&A with Tóke about the tracks:
What does the track “I’m so happy to see the clouds” mean to you?
Honestly it was a very spontaneous project birthed out of hanging out frequently with Gavsborg at my place in Tempelhof/Berlin. We’d have a whole bunch of reasonings, eating food, processing stuff together, just sharing vibes to the point that we consider ourselves family now.
Creatively speaking I have a massive respect for Gav and the whole Equiknoxx Team for the way they approach the creative process, it’s one of the most organic and easy processes i ever experienced in music. Making music with Gav feels like you’re 5 years old again and you’re discovering new toys with your friend or building a sandcastle by the beach. It’s just pure fun and joy. Gav is on the opposite spectrum of perfectionism, everything that the moment brings is meant to be and deserves to be documented – very liberating.
What does the track “ The Sun & The Moon ” mean to you?
I came up with the hook while on tour in Mexico 2022, to be specific in the jungle of Chemuyil, Mexico during the soundcheck for a performance with my good friends Lengualerta & Angel Zambrano at a Mayan community. The energy was heavily mystically loaded, most people had eaten edibles, my guitar was sounding juicy and this word sound came out of me charged by the palpable ancestral energy of the jungle under the moonlight.
