Written in Accra, Ghana, and recorded in Melbourne, Australia, “This Life” is a simple yet powerful reggae anthem that pays homage to the great African leaders Kwame Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba, Miriam Makeba, and Yaa Asantewaa, who made immense sacrifices to uplift African peoples.

The track invites listeners to reflect on whether their actions are contributing to a better world and to consider the generations that will come after us as we journey through this life. At its heart, “This Life” is a reminder that we the people create the world we live in, we are not merely observers.

A flute-heavy banger from Melbourne musician and scene mainstay Kasinda, “This Life” marks the first of many solo releases to come. Co-produced by Ghanaian producer Slim Drumz, the track brings together an exceptional lineup of Melbourne musicians, including members of Surprise Chef and Owelu Dreamhouse.

Kasinda is a multidisciplinary artist, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, researcher, and educator, whose work spans Owelu Dreamhouse, Afrospace Interchange, Ella Thompson, Temporary Blessings, Kee’ahn, Moontide, Heavy Amber, The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra, and more.

“This Life” is the title track from Kasinda’s upcoming EP, released via Northside Records.
