Africa My Destiny was born from a simple, almost inevitable encounter between the McAnuff family and the group The Ligerians.

For several years, Nadia McAnuff had been working closely with the group. In 2024, during a session at SoulNurse Studio, her father Winston McAnuff came to visit. From that spontaneous moment, a first track was recorded together — “Colors” — with no other intention than the joy of playing and sharing.

Very quickly, the desire to go further became undeniable. The idea of bringing Winston, Nadia and Kush, her brother, together on stage began to take shape. A tour was put together in the spring of 2025, as an exploration, a way to test this family reunion live, for the very first time.

From the very first concerts, something rare happened.

An obvious alchemy, a genuine energy, a deep connection between the three voices and the musicians of The Ligerians. On stage, but also off it, a strong human dynamic took hold. For the first time, the McAnuff family was spending so much time together, sharing everyday life, memories, and music.

Carried by this intensity, they decided to record.

Between shows, The Ligerians opened the doors of their SoulNurse Studio and welcomed the McAnuff Family. In three days, in this artistic and human emulation, eight musicians laid down the tracks that would make up Africa My Destiny.

The album bears the mark of that unique moment: living, sincere music, recorded in the instant, nourished by sharing, listening, and a deep sense of togetherness. Each member asserts their own voice and identity, while remaining connected to a shared story.

And at the heart of that story, one particularly powerful moment: the cover of Be Careful, the iconic track by Matthew McAnuff, who left us too soon. Performed as the closing number at concerts, the song asserts itself as an obvious choice and ultimately opens the album. More than a tribute, it embodies the continuity of a message and the strength of a family bond that transcends time.

Africa My Destiny is the reflection of that encounter: authentic, sincere, and deeply human. An album born on stage, lived together, and captured in the studio.
