Mista Savona: I love this riddim so much. It’s originally a great Lee ‘Scratch Perry & Augustus Pablo collaboration from 1973, ‘Words Of My Mouth’, featuring The Gatherers on vocals, with lead vocals by Anthony ‘Sangie’ Davis.
I was able to link with Sangie a few years back in Kingston, Jamaica, and we recorded a great new version of this absolute roots classic. I can’t wait to release it – it s coming in August this year. But first – I went back to my 2007 mix of ‘Travelling Man’ with the legendary and pioneering Jamaican toaster Big Youth, added Sangie’s vocals (alongside Melbourne artist Carl Pannuzzo), updated the mix and now we have a really great re-release.
