The independent record label Time To Roots Records is proud to announce its new release, titled “Drift Away ”, a new 7” vinyl at 45 RPM featuring the exceptional collaboration of the legendary Jamaican roots reggae artist, Prince Alla.

Keith Lorenzo Blake, better known as Prince Alla, is an undisputed icon of roots reggae. His unique style and extraordinary ability to convey deep and spiritual messages have positioned him as a reference in Jamaican music. With over five decades of career, Prince Alla‘s legacy is undeniable. His powerful lyrics and unmistakable voice establish him as a living legend of roots reggae, leaving an indelible mark on music history.

“Drift Away” is a profound theme in which Prince Alla reflects a powerful message, resonating in every vibration. The intensity of his lyrics, combined with his masterful interpretation, manages to convey Prince Alla‘s exceptional skill and experience. Illustrating his innate ability to connect in an authentic and genuine way.

Originally, the riddim was taken from the limited LP “Timeless Dub” (TTRR004). Dub Wizard Band, the label’s band, masterfully interprets this completely renewed riddim. Roberto Sánchez (A-Lone Ark) recorded various instruments, such as drums and bass, transforming the song into an authentic organic masterpiece.

On this occasion, George Palmer has incorporated new arrangements that grant a fresh and vibrant character, enriching the original essence of “Drift Away.” Additionally, his completely new mix elevates the theme to another level, offering a renewed interpretation, captivating and revitalized.

The dub version has been carried out completely live by producer George Palmer, who uses his analog equipment to perform the mix.
This approach provides an authentic and unique texture to the sound, creating an experience that captures the true essence of 70s roots reggae.

Side A: “Drift Away” is a powerful cut of Roots reggae, wrapped in the raw essence of 70s Jamaican sound, where Prince Alla conveys spirituality and social message, with profound lyrics that reflect inner struggle and hope in difficult times.

Side B: “Dub Away” is a powerful dub reinterpretation of “Dritf Away” by Prince Alla, in a new dub version that incorporates analog effects and vocal fragments, performed live by George Palmer.

“Drift Away” by Prince Alla Meets Dub Wizards Band has been pressed on an impressive 7″ vinyl at 45 RPM. It is limited to only 300 copies worldwide.
