UB40 feat. Ali Campbell & Bitty McLean – Cathy’s Clown (2025) Single

Label: Taxi Records | TABOU1
Produced by: Sly & Robbie
Release date: 08/24/2025

TABOU1, along with TAXI Records, Silent River and UB40, proudly presents the track that lit up UB40’s and Bitty McLean’s recent sold-out Summer Series Tour… “Cathy’s Clown” – the million-selling Everly Brothers classic – reborn with a fresh reggae twist. Legendary hitmakers Sly & Robbie drop a killer riddim, setting the stage for the silky-smooth voices of Ali Campbell and Bitty McLean.

Bitty McLean: “I first demoed this tune years ago with Sly & Robbie in Jamaica. The vibe was good, but I knew it needed something more. Ali was the first person I thought of. When Sly pulled out this riddim, it just clicked. One take, no tweaks – pure magic. That’s the way I love to work.”

Ali Campbell (UB40): “Bitty came to me with this idea, and I thought it was brilliant. We’ve been friends and collaborators for years, so it was a no-brainer. The riddim was perfect – thanks to the great Mr. Dunbar and the late, great Robbie Shakespeare. UB40 was inspired by Sly & Robbie from day one, and that bond has only grown stronger.”

Sly Dunbar: “When things come from the heart, it’s easy. The song is wicked, and Ali and Bitty sound sweet on the riddim. All you need is the right vibe, and everything falls into place naturally.”
