Marina P & The Co-Operators – Crossfire (2025) Single

Label: Waggle Dance Records
Recorded, produced & mixed by: Eeyun Purkins at Waggle Dance Studios, Bristol
Release date: 06/20/2025

Sadly, nearly fifty years have passed since Peter Tosh made his plea for ‘Equal Rights and Justice’ and the war mongers still haven’t conceded to his demands. When Denise Darlington chanted ‘War No Right’ a few years later over The Heptones ‘Ain’t Nobody Else’ rhythm, she certainly wasn’t wrong. In fact, she couldn’t have been more devastatingly right. Decades later, we live in a world growing more troubled by the day. You just have to look to Palestine, Congo or Sudan to see the writing on the wall in 2025.

Marina P & The Co-Operators new single ‘Crossfire‘ carries on in this tradition, denouncing the hypocrisy of western governments. Complicit in the global industry of war & conflict. They claim righteous indignation yet they are the propagators of great injustice. Complicit in their actions or their silence.

This is the first collaboration between The Co-Operators & Marina P and just like rumours of war there are whispers of a full length album later on this year. This uptempo protest song is as suitable for the streets as it is for the dancehall… No justice, no peace!
